Boot Kickoff Draws Huge Crowd to Kendrick Park

It's official: Sheridan WYO Rodeo week has begun. Last night's Boot Kick-Off filled Kendrick Park with spectators and contestants in the opening event for Rodeo Week. While many of the people were veteran attendees, there were some new faces in the crowd.

The champion boot kicker turned out to be a relative newcomer to the event. Jesse Woods shattered the mark left by last year's overall winner with a distance of over 124 feet in the Kick-Off.

The evening started with the traditional City of Sheridan - Sheridan County match-up. Mayor Dave Kinskey and County Commissioner Steve Maier went head-to-head, and the results may have been too close to call.

The carnival will open tonight at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds, and the Craft Brothers will star in their Wild and Woolly WYO Show tonight, delighting audiences with two performances at the WYO Theater as Sheridan WYO Rodeo week continues.
