BLM Announces Scoping on Rough Draw Project

The Bureau of Land Management Buffalo Field Office has announced that they are requesting public comments on the Patriot Energy Resources proposal for the Rough Draw Project. A news release from the BLM states that under the proposal, the BLM is beginning to prepare an environmental assessment for injection of nutrients and produced water into federal coal seams to stimulate generation of methane gas.

The proposed project would utilize 283 existing wells within an 18,000 acre area and is located roughly 13 miles north of Gillette. The area is highly developed for coalbed natural gas and consists of fee and state surface ownership with federal, fee and state mixed mineral ownership.
