Black Butte Fire in the Bighorns

Firefighters are on the scene of a wildfire burning about 11 miles northeast of Hyattville in the Bighorn National Forest. According to a media release from the Bighorn National Forest, the Black Butte Fire was reported late last night and has burned about 11 acres.

Two 20-person hand crews and two engines, helped by today’s cooler temperatures, are working to contain the fire. Fire managers expect the fire will be contained this evening. No structures are threatened by the fire. As hot and dry weather conditions return to the area over the next few days, visitors are urged to be vigilant with fires. Stage 1 fire restrictions remain in effect on the Bighorn National Forest.
