Bike Lane On South Burritt Discussed By Buffalo Council

Buffalo City Council
Buffalo City Council

Buffalo's City Council is in the process of deciding what to do with a bike lane on South Burritt Avenue, put in when the street was re-paved earlier this year.

The question is whether or not to allow parking on the same side of the street as the bike lane, which will have cars parked in the bike lane if it is allowed. The bike lane is only on the west side of South Burritt, and runs along school property. Private property on the east side of the street is not affected by the bike lane.

The council has discussed the issue at the last few council meetings.

According to discussions, the bike lane was intended to give kids a safe area to walk and/or ride bikes without having to negotiate between parked cars to get to and from school.

Mayor Randy Dyess explained his understanding for having the bike lane on Burritt.

No decision was made in the matter by the city council.
