Big Horn Mountain Festival Adds Old-Time Dance To Events

A new event for this year's 8th Annual Big Horn Mountain Festival will be an old-time dance to begin after the Michael Martin Murphey set Saturday, July 7.

According to a media release from the festival organizers, the dance will begin about 10:30 pm in the Community Building and the band will be “Pick and Holler,” featuring Buffalo native Ty Peterson.

Festival co-organizer Lynn Young said, “During the stage performances people love to dance and move around in front of the stage. We decided to bring in an old-time string band and dance caller and have a traditional old time dance.”

The dance caller will be Dan Hopper, a square dance caller from Gillette.

“We hope it's a tradition that we can continue,” Young said.

The Big Horn Mountain Festival will begin Friday, July 6 and wrap up Sunday, July 8.
