Forest Officials Announce Hunter Creek Road Closure

The forest service has announced a closure of a local road in the mountains. Hannah Stepenoff has the details.

Big Horn National Forest Officials announced the Hunter Creek Road located near Buffalo is temporarily closed to public use due to unsafe conditions.
Officials say runoff from melting snow has caused severe damage to the road.

Spokeswoman for the service Susie Douglas said repair work will begin as soon as the roads are clear.

The closure begins at the bridge across the North Fork of Clear Creek, less than a mile from where the road meets with U. S. Highway 16. Signs will be posted to alert travelers to the closure, she said, and the closure will not affect access to cabins along Forest Service Road 389.

The Hunter Trailhead and campground are closed until the road is reopened and those with camping reservations will be contacted.

The services expects the road will be open to public by no later than the end of June.
