Jessica Martin estimated that nearly 200 children gathered at City Hall in downtown Sheridan Saturday for the Jaycees' annual Halloween parade.

Martin, who's president of the local Jaycees organization, said it was the largest crowd that she's seen in a few years. Martin wasn't sure how long the Jaycees have been holding the annual event, but she said it's been more than 12 years.

The event started with costume judging, then the children went trick-or-treating in Sheridan's downtown. Martin said nearly 50 businesses handed out candy this year. The event was for children from age 0 to 10 years.
