BHS Forensics Preps For State At Cheyenne South Tournament

The Buffalo High School Forensics Team wrapped up their regular season by attending the “Stampede To State” Tournament March 1 and 2 at Cheyenne South High School.
The team placed 4th in the 3A division.

In Congressional Debate, three of the BHS competitors advanced to the Super Congress. Heidi Hauck, Brianna Taylor and Rex Yeigh all advanced to the final round. Yeigh placed 8th and Taylor placed 9th overall.

In Extemporaneous Speech, Cody Giles extended his record of excellence by winning all of his preliminary rounds and advancing through semi-finals and into the final round. The other five competitors in finals were all from 4A schools, yet Giles prevailed and won the 1st place trophy in that event at this tournament for the second year in a row.

Coach Walter Farwell said, “This is the only the second year that Cheyenne South has hosted this varsity tournament. We like the fact that the debaters get a chance to run the new topics before the State tournament. The team that was able to travel was quite small, but they did very well overall.”

The team will be at the State Tournament in Rock Springs next weekend.
