Berger: No Income Tax, But Possibly Fuel

Sheridan County State Legislator, Rosie Berger, said the state is in a financial rough spot due to low natural gas prices.

However, the economic slump is not enough to warrant a state income tax. Berger said Wyoming is proud to not tax personal income.

Berger said reductions in federal highway funding are are also starting to strain the state's purse strings, and Sheridan County currently has one of the lowest fuel taxes in the region and in the nation. However, the present situation doesn't warrant any immediate action.

Berger emphasized future budget plans entail extensive precautionary measures that can help keep the state budget responsibly in the black.
