Saturday night brought hundreds out to support the Dog and Cat Shelter at it's annual fundraiser called “Beat the Winter Blues.” Executive Director, Cel Hope explains.

And the word for the night as Hope tells us, was just plain old-fashioned “fun.”

There was a dinner of all-you-can-eat homemade chili, a silent plus a live auction, bucket raffles, music, a dance performance as well as fun activities for the kids. Folks were lined up outside waiting to get in to the fundraiser held at the fairgrounds Exhibit Hall and all for a great cause.

Del Acker's family has adopted a cat and dog from the shelter and believes in the work there.

A big event with a lot of planning with a lot of heart and soul behind it. Hope tells us why she does what she does.

Last year's event raised over $17,000 for the shelter.
