CODY - The bear hunt is over in two areas in northwestern Wyoming less than a week after it started.

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department said Tuesday that hunters have killed four female bears in areas 1 and 2 in the northern end of the Bighorn Mountains.

Once the quota for sows is reached in a hunting area, the land is off limits for further hunting until the spring season.

The bear hunt started Sept. 1.

Hunters are required to report any harvested black bears within 72 hours.

Hunters can check the daily status of bear hunting areas by
calling (800) 264-1280.
