Thirteen teams from eight high schools around the state competed in the 15th Annual Wyoming Academic Challenge at Sheridan College Saturday with Sheridan High School taking third place honors.

Zane Garstad, Director of Enrollment Services tells us what the competition was like.

There was a lot at stake as the overall top team members won scholarships to Sheridan College.  Awards were also presented to the second and third place teams, the top small school, and to the top individual.  Garstad tells us why this competition is so important.

The top 18 teams which include 12 large schools and six small schools will qualify for the state finals held in April at Casper with an all-star team made up of four team members and two alternates representing Wyoming at the National Academic Challenge in June in Florida.

Cheyenne East took first place honors in the large school competition, 2nd place and small school champion was Tongue River while Big Horn ended up in fourth place.  Top individual honors went to Reilly Brogan.
