The U.S. House of Representatives, by a vote of 227-205, passed a tax bill Thursday that will enact $1.5 trillion in tax cuts for businesses and individuals.

The U.S. Senate Finance Committee is currently working on their version of the bill, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming took to the Senate floor this week to offer his take on the bill, saying that one of the biggest cuts in the plan is that it doubles the standard deduction that people take.

Barrasso said millions of American families will be far better off because of the tax relief that Republicans are working on, as it will boost the economy and help workers and their families.
