Barrasso Congratulates Mead on New Facility

Posted in

Last Wednesday, on May 16, Senator John Barrasso congratulated Governor Matt Mead of the Wyoming Integrated Test Center (WITC) near Gillette, Wyoming. This new test center’s purpose is to study the capture, sequestration, and management of carbon emissions from a Wyoming coal fired power plant.

Within the congratulatory letter that Barrasso sent Mead, he mentioned how Wyoming has become a global leader of energy technology, development, and innovation. Executive director of the Wyoming Infrastructure Authority Jason Begger was also thanked in the letter sent.

To get this center built, Barrasso introduced the Utilizing Significant Emissions with Innovative Technologies (USE IT) Act. The USE IT Act would support carbon utilization and direct air capture research. This bill was passed on March 22, 2018.
