Award Honorees to Read at Sheridan College

Three finalists for the PEN/Hemingway Award for Debut Novel will give a combined reading at Sheridan College on Sept. 19 as part of Wyoming's statewide “Explore Hemingway” series.

Elissa Schappel, Ian Bassingthwaighte and Ling Ma will be featured in a program starting at 7 p.m in Room 153 of the college's Whitney Academic Center. The event, which is co-hosted by Sheridan College and the Ucross Foundation, is open free to the public and will be followed by a discussion and book signing.

The three authors were finalists for the PEN/Hemingway award in the years 2001, 2018 and 2019 respectively. All three are in residence at Ucross during this month.

The PEN/Hemingway Award was founded by Mary Hemingway, wife of Ernest Hemingway, and Ucross has partnered with the award since 1995.

The event at Sheridan College will be moderated by Sarah Sinclair, Sheridan College dean of instruction and academic services.
