'Longmire' Author Makes Appearances in Local Area

The historic Occidental Hotel in Buffalo will host a book reading Saturday night for local author Craig Johnson, who is the writer of the Longmire Series of novels.

He'll be reading excerpts from his Christmas story, “The Spirit of Steamboat,” as well as his novella from the Longmire Series called, ”Wait For Signs.”

The reading will be staged in the lobby of the hotel, which is on Main Street, and begins at 6 o'clock. Johnson will also be available for signing books. The hotel's co-owner David Stewart said the event will be filled with the Christmas spirit.

Johnson's books are available at the Occidental for those that need one signed, according to Stewart.

Stewart said Johnson Will probably be discussing the latest information on the status of the Longmire Television series as well.

The reading is open to the public, free of charge. The hotel's Virginian Restaurant will be open and food available from the saloon menu for anyone who would like to include dinner in their evening out. Johnson is also making appearances at several other venues in the local area, including Story and Sheridan. The schedule is posted below.

Dec. 18 – Sheridan Stationery, Sheridan, 5:30 p.m.
Dec. 19 – Story Library, 6 p.m.
Dec. 20 – Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library, Sheridan, noon; Sheridan Historical Society Museum, Sheridan, 2 p.m.
