Ash Creek Fire Update, New Evacuations

The Ash Creek Fire, which began 10 miles east of Lame Deer and is spreading north and east, is now 40% contained, however, it has jumped Highway 212, west of Suicide Pass, and is now moving southeast.

This highway is closed.

Residents in the area within Sonnette Road on the east and Ten Mile Creek Road on the south are advised to evacuate by the Powder River County Sheriff's Office.

Ranches and structures remained threatened by the fire, especially in the Ashland/Broadus Divide. As of 9:00 this morning, the fire has devoured 170,000 acres.

Assets assigned to fighting the Ash Creek Fire include 17 fire crews, five helicopters, an air tanker, and multiple water tenders, and dozers.
