The Art of Caregiving in Alzheimer's Disease

The Art of Caregiving in Alzheimer's Disease

Eric Pfieffer is the founding director of the Suncoast Alzheimer's and Gerontology Center at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Pfeiffer has since retired and taken to speaking on the topics of his book, “The Art of Caregiving in Alzheimer's Disease.”

The book is intended for anyone who is or may be starting out caring for someone with Alzheimer's, and talks about the challenges they face since the disease can manifest itself a short period of time.

One question that he gets from those in a caregiving role is: What's the difference between Alzheimer's and dementia? He says Alzheimer's is a specific form of dementia.

Pfeiffer explains that the disease can come on quickly, and tells us what kinds of things to look for.

Pfeiffer says that he wrote the book for that reason.
