Sheridan on Skates, the organization that has assumed ownership and management of the Sheridan Community Ice Rink, has announced the name of the soon to be covered indoor ice arena at the corner of Brundage Street and Coffeen Avenue.

SOS board member Charlie Whiton said via a news release, that the new indoor ice arena will be called Whitney Rink at the M&M’s Center, in recognition of Forrest Mars and Whitney Benefits for their generous contributions. Whiton said that they’ve set a March 4th date for a groundbreaking ceremony.

Whiton said that there will also be seating for up to 420 spectators. Along with the announcement of the name of the arena, SOS has released schematic architectural renderings of the facility that can be viewed by clicking on the attachment below.

Whiton said that while “we’re still in the middle of our community fundraising campaign, all of the donations received thus far have brought us to the point where we can show a detailed illustration of Sheridan’s first indoor ice arena.”
