April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and throughout the month the Wyoming Division of Victim Services will be joining with victims, service providers and Wyoming citizens to focus the public’s attention on this important issue and draw attention to the fact that sexual violence remains an intolerable violent crime with public health implications for every citizen of Wyoming.

Victim Advocate Cathleen Orr with the Advocacy and Resource Center of Sheridan dispels a common myth about sexual assault.

Orr said that it isn't just rape or attempted rape that falls under the category of sexual assault. She said that molestation, sexual harassment, unwanted touching, and verbal degradation are other actions that are considered sexual assault.
