The Antelope Butte Foundation is grassroots group who's been working for the past couple of years on reopening the ski area that's located in the Bighorn Mountains between Dayton and Greybull. Representatives with the foundation recently met with officials with the Bighorn National Forest to offer an official proposal. Foundation President Mark Weitz explains further.

Weitz says despite the significant progress that's been made as of late, they realize it's just another step in a long process.

The “Butte-ify the Bighorns” fundraiser held last November in conjunction with the Sheridan College Outdoor Adventure Club raised over $33,000. Weitz added that the funds raised from that event will pay for the appraisal.
