Alcohol Use Suspected in Fatal Crash

Alcohol use is being investigated as a contributing factor in the first highway fatality in Wyoming in 2017.

Highway patrol authorities said 52-year-old Gillette resident Michael Cada died at the scene of the crash, which occurred at 6:20 p.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 14/16 about seven miles north of Gillette.

According to investigators, Cada was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer and was traveling west when the SUV failed to properly exit out of a right-hand corner. The SUV entered a spin, left the highway to the east and traversed a private driveway. The vehicle rolled multiple times in the ditch.

Investigators said Cada wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
