The public meeting room at the Sheridan County Courthouse was the site Wednesday for an air service meeting for Sheridan and the surrounding communities. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter was there.

Quality reliable consistent air service in Sheridan, or the lack there of, has been an issue for decades now, and it doesn't appear to be going away anytime soon. State Senator Hank Coe from Cody spoke on how they went from not having air service at all, to contracting annually with United Airlines, thanks in part to the Cody Yellowstone Air group, which he founded.

Coe stated that he felt that Sheridan could accomplish what Cody accomplished with a well thought out plan.

Currently the Sheridan County Airport experiences a 70 percent leakage rate, meaning that's the percentage of locals who choose to travel elsewhere for airline service. Coe said that there are three things that help prevent leakage, pricing, schedules and reliability, something that many feel is lacking from the air service in Sheridan.
