9-1-1 Should Be Used Only For an Emergency

Sheridan Police Department officials want to remind residents that 9-1-1 should be used only if there is an emergency.

Sheridan Police Lieutenant Travis Koltiska talks about the importance of knowing when to call 9-1-1.

Koltiska said that there are only a certain number of 9-1-1 lines into their dispatch center and that they dispatch for all fire, ems, and law enforcement in the county except the Highway Patrol. He said there haven’t been any major issues of late with people tying up 9-1-1, they just wanted to issue a reminder to citizens the importance of calling the number only for emergency situations.
