4th of July at the Equestrian Center

Another community 4th of July celebration got off with a 'bang' Monday as thousands gathered at the Equestrian Center for one of the greatest fireworks displays in the area. The fireworks dovetailed with a musical simulcast on Sheridan's rock station Z94.

The gates opened at four and by five, it looked like five o'clock traffic all along Bird Farm Road as folks headed out for a good time, good food and live music.

Sheldon Smith has been going out to the fireworks extravaganza for ten years and got there early so he could park right up front.

Suggested donation to get in was $10 per carload and most of the proceeds go to help the Big Horn scholarship fund. Smith says that's a small prize to pay for family fun.

Tracy Swanson, president of the Big Horn Lions Club, says a 'lion's share' of the cars going in gladly pay their donation and some contribute much more.

Angie Sorenson was there with her family right up front with the early birds.

Last year 1,600 cars went into the Equestrian Center to watch the fireworks display.
