4th Judicial District Court News

There were two arraignments in 4th Judicial District Court Tuesday. The first was for 18-year-old Sheridan resident Patrick Mayfield, who is charged with one count of Felony Larceny and one count of Felony Burglary. On or about September 10, 2010, Mayfield allegedly stole an SUV from where it was parked on north Sheridan Avenue. He also allegedly broke into and stole items from a vehicle that was parked on Gould Street. Mayfield plead “Not Guilty” to both counts, and District Court Judge John Fenn set a trial for March 30th and 31st, 2011. Both counts that Mayfield is charged with carry with it a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, or any combination of both.

36-year-old Troy Nabozny plead “Not Guilty” to four separate counts: two felonies and two misdemeanors. The two felonies stem from an incident this past summer when he and another co-defendant, Brian French, allegedly stole items from a vehicle parked at Mountain West Electric in Sheridan. Nabozny is also charged with purchasing property with the knowledge that it was stolen prior to buying it. If he and the co-defendant's cases are consolidated, the trial will be February 23rd and 24th, 2011. If the cases are not consolidated, Judge Fenn set the trial for March 23rd and 24th of next year.

Judge Fenn also ordered a Bench Warrant for Sherry MacKenzie, who was unable to attend her motion hearing because she is incarcerated in the Fremont County jail pending five forgery charges. MacKenzie was the owner of a short lived Sheridan business a few years ago entitled the "Buddy System", where MacKenzie would furnish rides home to those who had too much to drink at the bar. The business folded due to the fact that it violated terms of her bond from a previous DUI charge.
