36th Lake DeSmet Fishing Derby This Weekend

The 36th annual Buffalo Lions Club Lake DeSmet Fishing Derby will be happening this Memorial Day Weekend at the lake 8 miles north of Buffalo.

As usual there will be over $50,000 in prizes and cash available to win during the three-day event.
Tagged fish worth $100 to $3,000 each have been released into the lake for the derby, and there will be daily prizes, daily drawings, overall prizes and a grand prize of a 2019 Kymco MXU 700i LE Hunter 4x4 to be given away.

In addition to the tagged fish, there are raffles with prizes ranging from coolers to sporting gear and new fishing poles. Many other contests and drawings include cash prizes.
The concession stand at the Lion’s Club Pavilion at the Mikesell Potts Recreation Area is the headquarters for the derby and where the fish are officially weighed in.
Proceeds from the event help fund a variety of Lion’s Club projects.

The derby kicks off Saturday, continues Sunday, and wraps up on Monday.

A valid Wyoming Fishing License is required to fish at the derby.

Tickets for the derby must be purchased to qualify for the prizes, and are available in Buffalo at Wa-Hoo Likkers, Big Horn Co-op, the Lake Stop, Sports Lure, Ultimate Outdoors and Crazy Woman Liquor.
Tickets are also available at Rocky Mountain Discount Sports in both Sheridan and Gillette.
