21-year-old Gillette Man Dies in One-Vehicle Rollover

According to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, a 21-year-old Gillette man was killed in a one-vehicle crash after being ejected from his 2002 Chevy truck when it rolled Monday, September 12th about three miles east of Gillette in Campbell County on Interstate 90.

According to the release, William E. Plaskett had taken off the ramp at about 4:30 pm on Monday in his 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 at exit 132 the WYO/DAK Interchange.

Witnesses told officers that Plaskett was traveling at a high rate of speed, and as the vehicle exited the ramp, it drifted off the left side of the ramp causing Plaskett to over-steer the vehicle. Plaskett over-corrected again and the vehicle went into a broadside slide as it went off the roadway.

The release said the vehicle rolled once, and Plaskett was ejected during the rollover; he was not wearing a seat belt. Plaskett died at the scene of the crash.

Further information has not yet been released by the Highway Patrol, as the incident is under investigation.
