The Third Annual Rope For Knowledge Scholarship Roping will be happening this Saturday at the Johnson County Fairgrounds.

The multi-event rodeo is a fundraiser for scholarship awards for Johnson County residents to use at any of the three community college campuses in Northeast Wyoming. Ashlea Redding, Services Specialist with Sheridan College in Johnson County, explains more about the Rope For Knowledge.

Events include team roping, breakaway roping, barrel racing, junior barrel racing and a parent/child team roping. Redding said it just made sense to have a scholarship roping event in a town where roping is as big as football or basketball.

Awards to be given out are cash, tack, jewelry, and all proceeds after payout will go to the Johnson County Scholarship Fund. Entries will be taken until noon on Friday, August 19 by calling 684-2001 or 217-2973.

The event is put on by Sheridan College in Johnson County and sponsors include Ariat International as well as numerous local businesses. For costs of entry fees or other information, contact Ashlea Redding at 684-2001.
