Report on Local Dropout Rates Released

The latest report on the Wyoming's dropout rate bodes well for several of our local school districts. Both Sheridan District 3, which serves the Clearmont area, and also Bighorn District 1 each had a zero percent dropout rate. These are among seven school districts state wide that had no dropouts for that school year.

Gubernatorial Candidate Talks Wolves

U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy Thursday reinstated Endangered Species Act protection for wolves in Montana and Idaho, saying the government made a political decision in removing the protection from just two of the three states where Rocky Mountain wolves are located.

Timothy Schaffer Sentencing Continued

After being found guilty on June 3rd of Aggravated Assault and Battery, Timothy Paul Schaeffer was initially scheduled to be sentenced Friday morning in 4th Judicial District Court.

A Big Year for West Nile?

In 2003, there were 393 recorded cases of West Nile Virus in Wyoming. In 2004, there were 10 cases. Last year, there were only 12 recorded cases, but two years prior there were 185 cases.

The West Nile ticker is now running again, as the first case of the year was reported in Goshen County this week.

Dr. Michael Strahan has been a physician in Sheridan County for almost three decades, and he has also served as the County Public Health Officer for 16 years. Dr. Strahan recently expressed his support for Sheridan County Coroner candidate P.J. Kane in a letter made available to the media.

County Clerk Candidates Discuss Position

Three of the four candidates for Sheridan County Clerk were guests on News/Talk 930 KROE'S Public Pulse program Thursday. The fourth candidate, Dave DeBolt appeared as a guest a few weeks ago, as he had a prior commitment and could not be on with the other candidates.

The Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation Board recently held their annual meeting and elected Kevin Bailey to serve as Chairman for the upcoming fiscal year. Bailey says that he looks forward to working with the Hospital Board in the coming year.
