Eight year-old Thomas Sorensen wins the 2011 Pocket Pet Show Grand Champion Rosette Award in the Rodent competition with his seven month-old guinea pig, Cloe, Tuesday afternoon at the Sheridan County Fair.

Payton Gibson Wins with Soul Sister

Judge Kim Ferguson has just handed Payton Gibson the Grand Championship Rosette for having the Champion Yearling In Hand, her horse Soul Sister. Payton showed the judge just how maneuverable Soul Sister could be as she traversed the obstacle course and walked away with the coveted prize.

A Kiss for a Job Well Done

Saturday was Cat day at the Sheridan County Fair and Betty Ann Jerney took home top honors for her showing of Wiley Kat who she rewarded with a kiss after being presented the award winning plaque. The afternoon started with a written test, measuring of tails & whiskers, weighting and documentation before judge Brenda Mckenzie took on the daunting task of picking winners.

Another Pathway Project Nears Completion

Soon, by the end of July, Dome Drive will be connected to Scott Drive by the pathway project. The concrete pathway that runs from 5th Street to Highland Park School will now continue on east of the school as a recycled asphalt surfaced pathway that comes out at 116 Scott Drive. Scroll down to see several views of the pathway on Wednesday prior to application of the recycled asphalt.

The once standing proud landmark red barn across from Sheridan College is no more. Over the past couple of days workers from A&K Construction have carefully dismantled, sorted and stacked the resultant aged barn wood seen here. According to Jo at A&K the barn wood will have a new life in the form of cabinets and other decorative wood work.

Much has been accomplished at the Vacutech Building location in the nine months since the October 28, 2010 groundbreaking. Last week concrete was poured inside the structure. The south side and west end pour started at midnight on Wednesday and ran for about 12-hours.

There was plenty to do in and around Big Horn on Saturday when the area celebrated 130 years of existence with a "Big Horn Birthday Bash." Among the events were raffles, vendors, live music, a pig roast, cowboy poets, local authors, drum and bugle corps and tours of Bradford Brinton. Come back for more photos.
