February 5th


BRONC / LADY BRONC HOOPS - The Sheridan high school basketball teams split their games with Gillette and have more conference play this week with Laramie and Cheyenne South.

The Lady Broncs will begin the second round of conference play this week with a conference record of 3-2 and 13-4 overall.

They lost at home against Gillette 55-51 Friday Head coach Sean Yeager says two pretty good teams played a tough game.

And he says several of their underclassmen got their first taste of what the rivalry is all about.

Weekend High School Sports Results From Johnson County

Johnson County's high school athletes had a busy weekend and most teams fared very well.
In basketball, the Bison boys traveled to Wheatland on Friday and downed the Bulldogs 55-53 in overtime.
Saturday they hosted Thermopolis at BHS and beat the Bobcats 61-33 to improve to 10-6 for the year.
The Lady Bison fell to the Lady Bulldogs 47-35 on Friday and traveled to Thermopolis on Saturday where they dropped the game to the Lady Bobcats 40-26. Their record now stands at 6-10 on the year.
The Kaycee Buckaroos mauled Hulett on Friday 76-26 and beat Upton 50-44 on Saturday.

Friday Basketball: Bison Boys Win, Buffalo and Kaycee Girls Lose

Lady Bison fall at home to the Lady Bulldogs 47-35.
Kaycee Lady Bucs drop their game at Hulett 54-50.

The Sheridan Lady Broncs fall to Gillette 51 to 55.

BRONC HOOPS - The Sheridan Bronc basketball team got a buzzer beater from senior Riley Ryan as they came from behind to beat Gillette Thursday night 59-58.

Ryan gathered in a missed Gillette free throw with five seconds to play brought the ball across mid court and launched the game winner the ball went through the basketball as the final gun sounded after the stunning finish Riley Ryan. Ryan ended the game with a game high 22 points.

Jo Co HS Sports Weekend Underway, More Tonight & Saturday

Johnson County high school athletes will continue their busy weekend today and Saturday, after the weekend was kicked off Thursday night.
In basketball, the Bison boys' and girls' sophomores hosted Arvada-Clearmont's varsity teams last night at BHS, we'll have results when they are posted.
The BHS wrestlers took on the Outlaws in Rawlins last night and we'll have results when we get them.
Tonight, the Bison boys' basketball team will play at Wheatland while the girls will host the Lady Bulldogs. Game times for the boys and girls are 4, 5:30 and 7 both in Wheatland and Buffalo.

BRONC BASKETBALL - The Sheridan Bronc basketball team plays in Gillette tonight. The Broncs lead the east conference at 4-0 Gillette is right behind at 3-1 Head coach Mike Ibach says the Camels are the Camels once again.

It will be exciting and Ibach says the Broncs just need to keep their emotions under control.

We will have tonight's game for you live in Gillette tip off is scheduled for 7:30 and you can hear all the action on 14-10 KWYO and 95.9 FM.

Johnson County High School Sports Weekend Starts Tonight

Another busy weekend in Johnson County high school sports begins tonight with a number of teams competing.
The BHS wrestlers will be on the mat with the Outlaws in Rawlins tonight at 4:30 and then will host the Torrington Trailblazers on Saturday, beginning at 1pm.
In basketball, the Bison boys' and girls' sophomores will host Arvada-Clearmont's varsity teams at 5:30 and 7 tonight at BHS.


Spearfish, SD – Black Hills State University men's basketball senior Rob Johnson was named the Independent Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for his efforts over the past week against S.D. Mines, Northern New Mexico and Johnson & Wales. Johnson helped the Yellow Jackets go 3-0 on the week.

"This is a great honor for Rob who has stepped up as a major leader this year as a senior," said Head Coach Bradd Schafer. "He has truly taken advantage of a new role this season."

Bison Wrestlers Struggle at Conference Duals

The Buffalo Bison wrestlers had a rough time at the Conference Duals in Torrington last week, having only four wrestlers suited up for competition.
On Friday, the Bison dropped their duals with Glenrock 72-12, Rawlins 36-6, Wheatland 66-6 and Newcastle 63-10. Saturday they fell to Torrington 72-6, Worland 54-15 and Douglas 72-3.
Individually, Taylor Bell went 6-1 during the meet, Kyle Burton was 3-4, Darby Scantling went 1-5 and Seth Sickler finished 0-7.
