Buffalo Gets First Snowfall Of The Season

The first snowfall of the 2016-17 winter season hit on Wednesday night and continued into Thursday. Buffalo received anywhere from 6 to 9 inches, according to Johnson County Emergency Management. Buffalo schools were let out three hours early Thursday and extra curricular activities at the schools were cancelled.

The Link - Partners in Pink Receive Check

Last week's Dining for a Cause raised $12,886 for the Link - Partners in Pink program through the Sheridan Memorial Hospital Foundation. The Foundation also received $25,500 in matching community gifts for a total raised of $38,386.

The Great Jack-O'-Lantern Contest Winner

Alexis Brown was our winner of the The Great Jack-O'-Lantern Contest with her Duke Owlington creation. Brown was awarded $250 in chamber bucks for her creation. The voting was close as Brown’s pumpkin was only 3 votes ahead of second place and only 6 ahead of third. Carpet Design, Plains Tire Co. and the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce sponsored this contest.

Academics for All Awarded Grant Funding

Kim and Mary Kay Love through a Wyoming Community Foundation Grant awarded Academics for All $1250.00

The mission of Academics for All is to honor a select set of Sheridan High School seniors who are outstanding scholars, as well as leaders in their school and in our community. Selected students become Summit Award winners.

Riding for the Christmas Wish Campaign.

The 4th Annual Christmas Wish Motorcycle Poker Run took place Sunday. Nearly 30 Bikers rode to Big Horn, Dayton, and Ranchester, and raised over $1100 for the Sheridan Media Christmas Wish Program, which helps local people in need during the holidays.

Jim Gatchell Museum Receives WYCF Grant

Sylvia Bruner, Director and Jennifer Romanoski, Educator of The Johnson County Jim Gatchell Memorial Museum accept a grant check in the amount of $3,985.15 from board members of the Sheridan-Johnson County branch of the Wyoming Community Foundation. This money will be used to republish four historic walking/driving tour brochures that are distributed throughout the Buffalo area.

Dining for a Cause Benefits SHS Clubs

Monday's Dining for a Cause at Frackelton's restaurant in downtown Sheridan raised $14,295.25 for the Sheridan High School We the People and Sheridan Computer Clubs.

The Joe and Arlene Watt Foundation donated $10,000 in matching funds to go along with over $8,000 from 11 other matching donors in the community. The total funds raised that will be split between both clubs is $32,545.25.
