LeDoux Memorial Dedication is This Weekend

Sculpture of Chris LeDoux that will reside in the Chris LeDoux Memorial Park in Kaycee.

The Chris LeDoux Memorial Park Dedication will take place this afternoon in Kaycee, Wyoming. The dedication of the park will include the unveiling of a life-and-a-half size bronze of LeDoux's legendary ride from 1976 where he won the Professional Rodeo World Championship in bareback riding in Oklahoma City. The sculpture was done over a four year period by artist D. Michael Thomas of Buffalo.

Hands on History Week

The Trail End State Historic Site

Hands on History Week is a new program at the Trail End State Historic Site that was open to Junior High students in the Sheridan area. Trail End Curator and Assistant Superintendent Sharie Prout says that eight local students took part in the program that is now complete.

Grizzly Kills Man Near Yellowstone

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A grizzly bear killed a man just outside Yellowstone National Park, apparently just hours after researchers had trapped and tranquilized the animal. The Park County Sheriff's Office says the attack happened Thursday after members of the Interagency Grizzly Bear Study Team finished examining a large adult male grizzly.

Animal Rights Group Upset at College Rodeo

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - An animal-rights group has posted a video showing horses being shocked with electric prods at the College National Finals Rodeo. The event's stock contractor says the prods were used within rodeo rules.

Sheridan Resident Sentenced for Fraud

31-year-old Brett Lattin of Sheridan was sentenced Friday by U.S. District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson for his role in a scheme to defraud Marathon Oil Company.

Sheridan Senior Center Wins Serve Wyoming Award

Earlier this month, we reported that the Sheridan Senior Center was up for an award from ServeWyoming, but that it was up to the public to vote. Word came this morning that at last night's Philanthropy Days banquet

The Senior Center won the ServeWyoming Non-Profit Impact Award at the Philanthropy Days banquet in Laramie. Out of 530 votes the Senior Center had 243 and won by 20.

The annual Chrome Cowgirls Charity Run will get underway in Casper this evening, with a final destination of Sheridan Saturday afternoon. Event Organizer Terri Wymer says they'll be leaving Casper bright and early Saturday morning en route to Sheridan.
