Gilead Fire at 4,200 Acres, Temporary Closure Area Expanded

The Bighorn National Forest Service has announced that Forest Supervisor Bill Bass has signed a special order expanding the area that is closed in and around the Gilead Fire.

The decision by Johnson County Commissioners to not accept the Game and Fish 99-year lease proposal for junior water rights on Lake DeSmet has opened the door for Sheridan County to perhaps market their share of water individually.

New Software to Help P.D. With Data

The Sheridan Police Department implemented new software about a month ago that will go along way in helping map crime and traffic incidents within the City. Police Chief Richard Adriaens comments on the new command central program that they're now using.

Johnson County HS Sports Preview For September 6

After cruising past Worland 41-0 last week, the Buffalo Bison football team (1-0) will have what looks to be a better challenge this week as they take their No. 3 ranking to Powell against the top-ranked Panthers.
Game time is at 7pm Friday in Powell.

The Lady Bison volleyball team (4-4) will be at the Rawlins Invite today through Saturday. Both the Varsity and JV squads will have matches this weekend.

The Bison golf team will be home this weekend for their own tournament Friday and Saturday at the Buffalo Golf Club.

City Council Approves Street Closure For Oktoberfest

The Buffalo City Council approved a request from the Chamber of Commerce to close a portion of Main Street downtown for their Oktoberfest celebration coming up on Saturday, September 22nd.

Bud Love Wildlife Area Closed Due to Fire

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has temporarily closed the Bud Love Wildlife Habitat management Area in order to allow firefighters to stage for fighting the Gilead Fire.
