Putting on the Pink

The Kelly Schreibeis Memorial Foundation will be holding a special lighting ceremony Friday October 1st at 5:30 pm on Grinnell Plaza in Sheridan.

Main Street in Downtown Sheridan is getting a temporary face lift to commemorate October as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Kelly Schreibeis Memorial Foundation has added a little bit of pink to the downtown area and they invite the public to a special lighting ceremony Friday, October, 1st at 5:30 pm on Grinnell Plaza.

Sheridan and Johnson County Nonprofits Awarded Grants

In a media release issued Thursday from the Wyoming Community Foundation, nonprofits across the state of Wyoming have been awarded a total of just over $197,925 in grants. Of those, seven from Sheridan and nine from Buffalo have a few thousand dollars more for their coffers.

Bra Decorating Contest to Promote Breast Cancer Awareness

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Wyoming Comprehensive Cancer Control Consortium is looking for a little extra “support” for breast cancer awareness as it kicks off its first Decorated Bra Event. The contest encourages participants to decorate a bra to promote breast cancer awareness.

Western Senators Propose Bill That Would Exempt Wolves From Federal Protection

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - U.S. senators from Wyoming, Idaho and Utah are proposing legislation that would strip wolves in the northern Rockies of federal endangered species protection. The legislation unveiled Thursday is the latest in a series of recent bills all generally aimed at short-circuiting legal opposition from environmental groups opposed to seeing an end to federal wolf protections.

Wind Task Force Favors Eminent Domain Limits

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - A task force is recommending that Wyoming no longer allow private companies to seize land for small power lines for wind projects. The Wind Energy Task Force voted 5-4 Thursday in Casper to deny the power of eminent domain to private companies that want to string power lines from wind turbines to main transmission lines.
