Suicide Prevention Week September 5 – 11 – Part 1 of Series

Coming up in just under two weeks, the Sheridan County Suicide Prevention Coalition will be taking part in Suicide Prevention Week activities leading up to the Out of the Darkness Walk scheduled for Saturday morning, September 11th.

SHERIDAN HIGH SCHOOL GOLF - The Bronc golfers took their first tournament of the season last week in Riverton and yesterday they stayed hot taking the lead after the first day of a tournament in Douglas.

Eight Broncs sit in the top ten led by Kamrin Allen in second place, Cole smith and Taylor Reed are tied for 3rd, Cameron Lindell, Toby Nicholas and Taylor Speigleberg are tied for 4th and Chris Cremer and Jace Rader are tied in 5th place.

Following play today the Broncs and Lady Broncs will host an invitational Thursday and Friday and Kendrick golf course.

Local “Almost Pro” BBQ-ers “Grill” Competition in State Championships

It seems even the most amateur grillers pull out the dusty BBQ from the garage for summertime sausages, burgers and wings.

County Holds Open House on Conservation Design Subdivision Option

Sheridan County Planner Mark Reid

Part of the Sheridan County Comprehensive Plan that was adopted in 2008 calls for conservation of agricultural lands and encourages clustered development on lots smaller than 35 acres. The long range comprehensive plan also recommends changing the minimum lot size in the agricultural zoning district from 35 acres to 80 acres per dwelling unit.

Community Garden Tour

In 2009 Partners in Philanthropy, with support from Sheridan College sponsored the first Prototype Community Garden. The garden was such a success that it spawned five more throughout Sheridan County. Community Gardener Boby Legerski says that they have a special tour planned for September 1st.

Arch Coal Taking Nominations for Teacher Achievement Awards Program

Arch Coal is now taking nominations for their Teacher Achievement Awards program.

The Arch Coal Foundation has announced that they are now taking nominations for their 2010-2011 Teacher Achievement Awards program. Arch Coal Vice President of External Affairs Greg Schaefer explains that a number of different people can nominate a teacher.
