Primary Election Draws Near

The 2010 Primary Election will be held Tuesday August 17th.

The 2010 Primary Election is one week away, which means that if you plan on voting absentee, you have less than a week to do so. Sheridan County Election Supervisor Brenda Miech.

As far as the numbers so far for this year's absentee ballots for the Primary.

Taste of Sheridan this Weekend

Last year's first ever Taste of Sheridan was a big success.

The 2nd Annual Taste of Sheridan is this Sunday afternoon in Thorne-Rider Park. Taste of Sheridan Co-Chair Nancy Silla explains what the event is all about.

Since the event will feature three more restaurants and caterers then last year, it will be held at a slightly different area in Thorne-Rider.

The Dog and Cat Shelter of Sheridan is now accepting entries for the 2011 Pet Calender Contest. Shelter Executive Director Cel Hope says that even though they'll be taking entries for the next few months, now is the time for people to submit their photos.

Authorities Capture One, Other Escapee and Accomplice Still At Large

Authorities say they have captured one of the two convicted killers who escaped from an Arizona prison on July 30th. The U.S. Marshals office says Tracy Province was arrested with a handgun early Monday in Meeteetse, Wyoming. At the time of the arrest, Province was carrying a hitchhiking sign with “Casper” written on it.

1-Cent Optional Sales Tax Survey Closes Tuesday

The Sheridan County Commissioners issued a reminder today that the 1-Cent Optional Sales Tax Surveys sent to Sheridan County residents in July must be returned no later than Tuesday, August 10. Surveys postmarked on the 10th will still be counted. The online survey will remain active until midnight on Tuesday.

Coming up on the Friday, August 13th edition of Public Pulse on KROE, host Kim Love will be speaking to 83-year-old Bruce Heilman. Heilman got his first motorcycle at the age of 72, driving it across the coutry at the age of 80.

Big West Arts Festival Draws Hundreds

The front lawn of Sheridan College turned into a metropolis of culinary, visual, and performing art as hundreds showed up to take a look at the 42 visual artists’ booths on display.  The free event featured 20 hours of live music and entertainment, a quick draw competition, and welding rodeo, plus all sorts of activities for the kids.

From the junk heap to the auction block, Saturday five teams competed in the 4th Annual Welding Rodeo held in conjunction with the Big West Arts Festival held this past weekend.
