Sheridan Man Has Initial Appearance on Sexual Abuse of a Minor Charge

54-year-old Sheridan Curtis Scheckla is charged with Second Degree Sexual Abuse of a Minor.

54-year-old Sheridan resident Curtis Scheckla had his initial appearance in Sheridan County Circuit Court Thursday. Scheckla is charged with one count of Second Degree Sexual Abuse of a Minor.

Local Students Awarded Sheridan WYO Rodeo Scholarships

Three recent Sheridan County high school graduates have been awarded Sheridan WYO Rodeo scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each. The three students that were selected from the eleven applicants are; Seth Stadick and Michael Leibrich of Sheridan and Philip Kane of Big Horn.

Story Fish Hatchery Remains Closed to the Public

The Story Fish Hatchery will be open to the public in June of 2011.

The Story Fish Hatchery has been closed to the public due to construction for the past three years as major facility upgrades have taken place to prevent whirling disease. Game and Fish Information Specialist Warren Mischke says that the hatchery will remained closed to the public until June of 2011.

Nicholas Edwards Changes Plea; Sentenced

32-year-old Nicholas Edwards changed his plea to Guilty on three different counts Wednesday in 4th Judicial District Court. Back on July 13th, Edwards' attorney, Joelle Hadley-Day, had told Judge John Fenn that they were awaiting the findings from a substance abuse evaluation before finalizing a plea agreement with the state.

Two Run for County Assessor

On the August 8th edition of KROE's Public Pulse program, candidates for the office of Sheridan County Assessor were the guests.

Vicki Kane, a newcomer to the County Assessor Race, says that while overall she thinks her opponent has done a good job as assessor, she sees another aspect of the position that needs improvement.
