Freudenthal Hopeful Coal Leasing and Grand Teton State Land Issues Will be Resolved

Wyoming Governor Dave Freudenthal

At his bi-monthly media conference Thursday, Governor Dave Freudenthal said his discussions with Bureau of Land Management Director Bob Abbey were positive and should help to move two important issues forward: coal leasing and state lands in Grand Teton National Park. The Governor and Director Abbey toured a coal mine in Campbell County and oil & gas operations in Carbon County Wednesday.

Bond is Set for Woman Accused of Four Counts of Child Abuse

A $5,000 cash bond was set by Judge John Sampson in Sheridan County Circuit Court Thursday for 27-year-old Patricia McMillan, who is charged with four felony counts of child abuse. McMillan was arrested for the alleged crimes Wednesday by a deputy with the Sheridan County Sheriff's Office.

Fatal Accident in Yellowstone

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) - A motorcyclist from Minnesota was killed when he crashed head-on with a motor home at Yellowstone National Park.

Park officials say 42-year-old Dale Payne, Jr., of Burtrum, Minn., was killed instantly Wednesday afternoon when his Harley-Davidson crossed the centerline and hit the oncoming vehicle.

Fire By Sheridan Memorial Hospital

Sheridan Fire-Rescue was dispatched Thursday around noon to a fire by Sheridan Memorial Hospital. Fire Marshal Brian Songer:

He says the fire was approximately 50-square feet and that the cause of the fire is not known.

A Status Hearing for 1st Degree Murder suspect Shawn Osborne was held in District Court Thursday.

A Status Hearing for Sheridan resident Shawn Osborne was held Thursday in 4th Judicial District Court. Osborne is charged with 1st Degree Murder for allegedly killing Gerald Bloom on January 15th, 2010.

John Brown Receives Sentence

The day finally arrived for John Brown to be sentenced in 4th Judicial District Court. Brown had been escorted from the courtroom on April 24th when he went before Judge John Fenn for his arraignment, at which time he had plead guilty on two counts of Felony Larceny for stealing a pick-up, an ATV, several tools and money from Sheridan County rancher Mike Helvey.
