Tyler Diefenderfer and his Labrador dog Daisy from Buffalo are both trying to stay dry as they watch their Lady Bison soccer team take on the Lady Panthers of Powell. SHS All-Conference Golfers

The Sheridan boys captured 6 of the 10 All-Conference awards following completion of the 4A East Conference Championship Tuesday in Cheyenne while one Lady Bronc made the list. Senior Cameron Lindell won the Conference Title by winning a three-way tie-breaking shootout that included his teammate Toby Nicholas.

Eyesore No More

Wyoming Demolition has cleared the property at 1135 N. Crook Street that sits adjacent to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore on the corner of Crook and 8th Streets. The property belonging to John Pruitt was the subject of an order of abatement voted on by the Sheridan City Council during a February special City Council meeting.

Pickup Bouquet of Plums

This interesting and colorful pickup bouquet of double flowering plums was seen on West Burkitt Street as proof that April showers did indeed bring May flowers. Now if May showers would hold off perhaps planting of these May flowers could take place.

Truck Strikes Wheelchair

Sheridan Fire-Rescue responded to a call involving a Dodge pickup and a person in a wheelchair Wednesday evening. The person in the wheelchair was attempting to cross Loucks when a truck turning right off of Main St. struck that person. The wheelchair and the victim were dragged several feet before the truck was stopped. The victim in the wheelchair was transported to Memorial Hospital.

Tuesday evening at the Sheridan High School May Choir Concert the Honor Choir and Spectrum Men: sang and fought their way throughout an audience favorite "Next to Lovin' I Like Fightin'" from Shenandoah that included solos by Kyle Roberts, Cole Bateman, Tyler Lien and Rusty Burr.

West Loucks/Big Goose Road Construction Coming Soon

The survey stakes show where the new 10-foot wide pedestrian/bike path will be as Intermountain Construction and Materials of Gillette gets ready to start work at Vale Street (just West of the traffic signal light at Highland and Loucks) and proceed west for 1.22 miles. The pedestrian/bike lane will be on the north side of the highway between Vale Street and Sparrow Hawk Road.

Tree falls in Kendrick Park

Sheridan Fire-Rescue responded to Kendrick Park Sunday afternoon after a large tree fell across the road. The high winds were blamed for toppling the tree.

Kendrick Park remained closed Sunday. Crews from the City’s Parks Department were expected to work on removing the remaining sections of the tree Monday.

A Heaping Portion of Taylor Heaps

Taylor Heaps, from Tongue River, went 4 for 4 at the Regional Track meet and when it was all over on Saturday he had an individual point total of 40-points. Broncs take win

The Sheridan E.R. "Scoop" Shovlain Invitational was held at the Kendrick Municipal Golf Course on a beautiful Thursday and the Sheridan boys came out on top for the 18th time in a row with a team score of 290. Leading the way for the Broncs was the top place finisher Kamrin Allen with a 68, in 3rd place was Cameron Lindell with a 72 and in 4th place was Jace Rader with a 73.

Fire Drill at Sagebrush

Sheridan Fire-Rescue conducted the May fire drill at Sagebrush school Thursday morning. Fire drills are conducted each month throughout the school year at each of the Sheridan’s Elementary, Junior High, and High Schools. Firefighter/EMTs from Sheridan fire rescue provide fire safety presentations for Kindergarten through 5th grade classes.

Almira, Sadie and Brekken singing "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy"

Almira Gafiatullina, Sadie Clarendon and Brekken Baker took the audience of the Shrine Auditorium back 70-years as they sang "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" made famous by the Andrews Sisters in the Abbott and Costello film Buck Privates in 1941. It was a roaring hit Wednesday evening during the Sheridan High School Jazz Band & Spectrum "Big Band Bash 2011" just as it was 70 years ago.

"Iron-stained" Sandhill Cranes

This pair of stained Sandhill Cranes were seen Wednesday morning near U-Cross.Their bodies appear rusty in color supposedly because they probe into mud containing iron which is then transfer from their bills to their plumage when they preen. For more see: http://www.savingcranes.org/sand...

Snickers Soccer Tournament Day 1

This last Saturday May 7th was the start of the Snickers Soccer Tournaments. The tournaments were held at the big horn equestrian center. The games started in the morning at 8:00 and went to 6:30pm at night. with over 20 fields there were a lot of games going on at once. There were 3 categories of soccer teams for both boys and girls starting with U10 then U12 and U14.

Last Chance

This last Friday May 6th, the Sheridan High School track team traveled to Gillette to compete. This was the last regular season track meet and the last chance athletes had to pre-qualify for state or make the cut to go to regionals the next week. The weather was great with it being warm and not very windy. Many athletes got personal bests at the meet and some did pre-qualify for the state meet.

Elephants = Circus in Town

The Sheridan County Fairgrounds was the place to be Monday afternoon as the circus came to town - the Shrine Circus to be exact. For two hours is was one act after another that thrilled the crowd. The elephants are always a hit and during the intermission many youngster went for an elephant ride, had their faces painted or just ate cotton candy.

3 Sheridan Teams finish on top at the Snickers Cup

Hard Loss For JV Girls Soccer

This last Friday April 8th the JV girls soccer team competed against Laramie. The weather was cold with blowing wind and it was sprinkling rain, but that didn't stop the girls from playing hard. They kept Laramie back during the first half almost scoring multiple times. During the second half still tied at zero the Lady Broncs still pushed Laramie back almost scoring again. After 10 min.
