Concert Raises Money for Food Group of Sheridan

The Trails End Concert Park in Sheridan kicked off their summer concert series with David Allen Coe and local band Honeybadger this past Friday night. The show raised approximately $1,300 for the Food Group of Sheridan, who helps feed children on the weekends during the school year.

The College Arch - Coming Down

On Tuesday afternoon the arch at Sheridan College was seen coming down but the golden dome still stands in the background. We're not talking McDonald's golden arches here but we are talking about the main entry way into Sheridan College which is now temporarily closed and will remain closed for a week or more.

Finishing Touches

On Monday afternoon O'Dell Construction Inc. of Sheridan was putting the outside finishing touches on the 3rd floor addition to the Sheridan County Court House making room for an additional judge for the 4th Judicial District. Tuesday morning the carpeting was being laid inside and Shawn O'Dell indicated that the entire project will be finished by the start of the new fiscal year - July 1st.

Sheridan Media Nets 9 WAB Awards

Sheridan Media took home nine awards from the Wyoming Association of Broadcasters convention over the weekend in Gillette.

SCLT Tours Kendrick K Ranch

In 1911 John B. Kendrick purchased the K Ranch acreage on which he had Sheridan's Oscar Husman family build the Kendrick Circle K Ranch house and adjacent buildings in 1925. The Circle K Ranch house area was the highlight of Saturday's Sheridan Community Land Trust (SCLT) tour of east Sheridan County.

Mr. and Miss Basketball (Wyoming)

Between the girls and boys Friday games of the 37th Annual NCAA Wyoming & Montana All Stars Basketball games being held in the Bruce Hoffman Golden Dome at Sheridan College Mr. and Miss Basketball (Wyoming) were recognized. Bruce Hoffman presented framed Wyoming #1 Jerseys to Jason McManamen from Torrington High School and Kyleigh Hiser from Laramie High School.

Low-cost Rabies Clinic Going Strong

Dogs, cats and their human guardians wait under the band shell at Kendrick Park Wednesday afternoon. Veterinarians are available here between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. through Saturday to administer low-cost rabies vaccinations. Rabies cases seem to be on the rise in the Sheridan area this year, with at least three confirmed cases in Sheridan County so far. (Photo by Tracee Davis)

Fundraiser for the Sheridan Inn is Friday

In an effort to help raise funds to pay off a loan to avoid possible foreclosure, the Sheridan Heritage Center will be hosting a fundraiser for the Historic Sheridan Inn this Friday night.

Venus crossing the sun

Albeit green this is what the sun looked like between clouds with Venus crossing it at 5:19 pm Tuesday from the Sheridan area. The green was from the green welders glass filter that was necessary to cut down on the sun's intense brightness and heat. Hopefully those that went to Sheridan College got a much better view through a telescope than I did through a camera.

Community Garden - Dayton Style

Check out the elevated "Community Garden - Dayton Style" set at the foot of the Bighorns in beautiful Dayton, Wyoming. There are 23 plots and the last one was sold for the season on May 29th for $10. It's more than just a community garden it is more like a community project as Mayor Wood said the City purchased the wood and the wood shop students at the High School made the boxes.

New Fire Chief

Monday night the Sheridan City Council signed off on Mayor Dave Kinskey's recommendation to appoint Terry Lenhart Fire Chief. Shortly after their approval, the Mayor made it official by swearing in Chief Lenhart. The full news story can be found here.

A Day of Transition

Friday was not just the last day of school it was a day of transition for many. On the left Rich Albrecht is checking the oil on SCSD#2 Bus 9 for the last time - he is retiring after having driven for the district for 15-years. On the right is Rich's wife Carol Albrecht, the Para/Bus Aide on Bus 21, checking over her paperwork one last time - she is retiring after 12-years with the district.
