Have Building - Need Furnishings

A special meeting of the Sheridan County School District No. 2 board of trustees will be held on Wednesday, April 18th at 11:45 am in the District Central Office. The purpose of the meeting is to award bid recommendations for the furnishings and equipment for the new Meadowlark Elementary School. The building is progressing nicely and is scheduled to be complete by August.

Severe Weather Awareness Week

The National Weather Service has proclaimed this week as Severe Weather Awareness Week in Wyoming. NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologist Tom Frieders says last year was a busy year in Wyoming for severe weather.

PURENERGY Fitness Strong Man Truck Pull

Strong Man Truck Pull Test Run at PURENERGY Fitness.

Friday afternoon, Jake Benth, of Sheridan, pulls a 16,600 lb delivery truck approximately 65 feet, using ONLY his own muscles. The pull was a test run for the Wyoming State Strong Man competition that will be held this summer. The pull took place on the street beside PURENERGY Fitness, owned by Nolan and Caryn Moxey.

Braden West - Pinewood Derby Grand Champion

After two hours of grueling racing Braden West from Sheridan's Cub Scout Pack 385 came out on top and took home the Elakawee District Pinewood Derby "Grand Champion" trophy at the races held Saturday morning at Hammer Chevrolet.

After a Hard Day of Racing

After a hard day of driving at the Pinewood Derby track brothers Aiden, 7; and Gaige Vielhauer, 9; of Pack 385 in Sheridan sat down to enjoy their well deserved lunch courtesy of Todd Windsor and Jimmy Johns.

Let'em Fly

Kori Puckett, Big Horn; Nick McGaugh, Tongue River; Kaitlyn Bell, Big Horn; and Bryce Williams, Big Horn; let 'em fly at the Powder Horn Golf Course on Friday. Big Horn and Tongue River hosted the event involving several area high school teams that included Upton, Lusk, Moorcroft, Sheridan (JV only) and Wright.

Green House - Needs some $ for trees & flowers

In the recent edition of the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce "Member to Member" e-publication it was noted that a "Beautification Campaign For Green House Living" program is underway. A fundraiser that will raise the necessary funds for the trees, shrubs, and perennials to enhance the landscaping of the Green House cottages at the Village at Cloud Peak. For more info scroll down.

Touring the New Welch Cancer Center

Officials with Sheridan Memorial Hospital hosted a tour of the new Welch Cancer Center Friday, giving the local media an opportunity to get a “sneak peek” at the state-of-the-art facility. Sheridan Media's Ron Richter was there and has the story.

The Selkirk Crabapple - Malus 'Selkirk' - is a member of the Rosaceae - Rose Family suited to the Sheridan area with its hardiness zone rating of 4-7. An open house will be held all day Friday for Hammer Chevrolet in Sheridan to say thanks to a town and its 75 years of patronage.

Helping Clean-Up the Sheridan Area

On a breezy Thursday morning two entities were seen helping do their part to clean up the Sheridan area. Vehicles were being vacuumed and washed at the brand new Let'Er Buck Car Wash on Brundage Lane (WYO 334) while a Wyoming Department of Transportation street sweeper was busy sweeping the shoulders of the highway.

Big Horn Senior Mitchell Davenport, who played the flute solo "Allegro", recently won the Kiwanis Stars of Tomorrow competition held in Powell Wyoming. Mitchell is shown here with his accompanist Amiah Warder, also a senior at Big Horn High School, during the local Sheridan competition held at the WYO Theater on February 17th.

You don't have to go far from town to view this foal observed Tuesday just south of Woodland Park School on the west side of Coffeen Avenue after crossing the bridge. Looks like this youngster could look a whole lot like Mom when it grows up as evidenced by the similar markings already present.

A Double Springtime Emergence

Not only has the Trail End Historic Site emerged from its long winter hiatus but so have the daffodils. The historic site opened its doors for the 2012 season on April 1st and these daffodils were not far behind thanks to Rod Adams who has maintained the grounds since 2003. Drainage Work Complete on Beaver Creek Road

Fletcher Construction has completed the replacement of the drainage culvert under Beaver Creek Road (CR-87) - about one mile south of Big Goose Road (WyoHighway-331). This 10.1-mile long road was closed at this point for two days to accomplish the work. If you haven't traversed this road recently now is a good time to do so.

Egg Extravaganza!

Sixteen month old Alyssa enjoyed her very first egg hunt at the Vertical Church "E3" Easter Egg Extravanganza on Saturday morning in Kendrick Park. The 2-year old and under group were the first hunters, at 10:30 am, to seek out their eggs - and fill their baskets they did.
