Big Horn Sweeps Wright - Twice

On Friday evening it was first the Lady Rams over the Wright Lady Panthers 46 to 34 and then it was the Rams over the Panthers 71- 53 to complete the home sweep to start the new year. Hanneah Puckett led the Lady Rams with 13 points followed by 11 from Bailey Bard. For the Rams it was Matthew Wigglesworth with 20-points followed by Tony Mort with 14.

Luke Ostrowski - Headed Your Way

Sheridan Bronc swimmer Luke Ostrowski is headed right at you as he competes in the 200 IM during Friday's swim meet against Laramie and Buffalo. Luke's time of 2:39.49 was good for 3rd Place in the 200 IM and later he also finished 3rd in the 100 breaststroke as well as swimming legs in two relays.

Operation Smile is Underway

Operation Smile kicked off Friday at the RENEW Service Center in Sheridan with RENEW participants providing Sheridan Police Officers with stuffed toys that will be distributed to traumatized children. Sheridan Police Chief Richard Adriaens explains.

Bird Counting Day

On Saturday in the Story/Big Horn area the Christmas bird count will be taking place. I wonder if this Bohemian Waxwing will be included. Last year's Wyoming/Utah count of Bohemian Waxwings was down with only 12 counted on 3-counts in Utah and 1329 counted on 5-counts in Wyoming. For more see: http://birds.audubon.org/sites/d...

Last One of the Year (updated)

The last Full Moon of 2012 gave the Sheridan area a brief glimpse as it rose at 4:30 pm Thursday and then disappeared. Perhaps if the cloud cover permits it will reappear later in the evening. The last full moon of 2012 actually occurs at 3:21 am (our time) Friday morning - when the moon is exactly opposite the sun but it will look full for a couple of days on either side of that time.

Fetterman Fight Remembered

Terry Richards, Oglala Lakota, and Bob Wilson, retired Fort Phil Kearny Superintendent, stand near the Bozeman Trail just north of the Fetterman Monument on Friday as they wait for tour members to gather for Part II of the annual December 21st tour. Terry and Bob each described the battle and heroic moments from each side of the engagement as the group walked along Massacre Hill.

Bailey Bard Leads the Lady Rams with 14-points

Big Horn Freshman Bailey Bard pumps in two of her 14-points to lead all scorers Thursday afternoon as the Lady Rams downed the Moorcroft Lady Wolves 52 to 32. It was the Lady Rams last game of the year and they came out strong and dominated the game.

In 1915, Sheridan businessman Peter Neiter purchased the two “Lion Dogs” that now, thanks to Neiter's donation of them in 1919, adorn the entrance to Kendrick Park in Sheridan.

SHS's Colin Harnish wins on first home dual

The Sheridan High School wrestlers took on Billings Senior Tuesday evening in their first home match of the year. Sheridan's Colin Harnish, shown here, won over Evan Turnquist in the 126# weight class by a fall at 1:40 to give Sheridan 6-points. Sheridan also won by falls in the 160# and 195# weight classes with Alex Smiley winning at :40 and Tory Music winning at 3:30.
