WYOMING AMERICAN LEGION STATE BASEBALL - The Sheridan Troopers baseball season ended Friday at the state tournament with a loss to Powell they finished the tournament in 5th place.
After losing in the opening round against Laramie the Troops beat Rock Springs Thursday and were eliminated by Powell Friday morning. They end the season with 30 victories.
Cheyenne Post 6 made it a clean sweep winning four straight games and winning the Wyoming state championship in nine of the last ten years. Cheyenne beat Gillette in a great game Friday night 4-3 in the winner's bracket semi final.
Saturday Post 6 made quick work of the Roughriders scoring 8 runs in the second inning to build up a 10-0 led and cruise to a 16-6 win at the championship.
Post 6 heads to the Northwest regional in Spokane, Washington Wednesday. They open the tournament against the host team.
TONGUE RIVER FOOTBALL CAMP - Tongue river high school football coach Chuck Walters will host his “Screaming” Eagles youth football camp this week.
The camp opens tomorrow and runs through Thursday at the middle school in Ranchester from 6:00 to 7:30 each evening. Walters will take registration tomorrow night starting at 5:30.The cost is 20 dollars per camper and includes a t-shirt.
LADY BRONC VOLLEYBALL CAMP - The Sheridan Lady Broncs volleyball team will host their girls 4th, 5th and 6th grade youth camp August 11th at the Sheridan county “Y”. Registration is being taken all week at the “Y”
LOCAL TENNIS - The Sheridan Rec district will host the JD Mullinax tennis tournament this weekend. Play will be Saturday and Sunday at the Thorne-rider park courts.
They will have Men's, Women's and Mixed doubles. players can register all week at the Rec office in Thorne- rider park.
SRD PROGRAMS - The Rec district is introducing a Disc golf league. They will host a meeting Monday August 9th at the Rec. office.
The Rec district will also be holding a fall Co-rec softball league. League play will start on August 17th. teams will ten games each on Tuesday and Thursday night's.
WYOMNG JUNIOR GOLF - In junior golf notes the Wyoming recreation junior state golf tournament will be played in Gillette August 13th and 14th. There are four age divisions ranging in ages from 6 to 18.
