4-A GIRLS TITLE GAME GOES TO OVERTIME

LADY BRONC BASKETBALL - The Lady Broncs made it through to the championship game and found long time rival Gillette in their way as both teams put on a great show Saturday night in the girls 4-A title game.

They played to a 63-all tie at the end of regulation and went into overtime. Gillette scored first, Lady Bronc junior Steph Sessions answered but gillette would get a three point basketball from Kari Borchgrevink her only basketball of the game and it ended up being the bucket that won the game for Gillette as they took the game 71-65.

Senior Kayla Woodward was in foul trouble early but still led the lady broncs in her final game with 24 points.

Lady Broncs head coach Derek Bissitt says the girls gave a great effort. And he says the title game lived up to the hype as both teams put on a great show.

When Bissitt took over three years ago this years senior were just beginning their varsity careers.

Now the program moves on returning three starters next year and a good group of under classmen. The Lady Broncs end the season as the 4-A runner-up and a record of 24-5.

BRONC BASKETBALL - The Broncs went out in two straight brutal losses they struggled mightly scoring points against Rock Springs in the first round and just missed getting the game into overtime. In the loser out game Friday they led all the way until the final minute against Star Valley but the Braves pulled off the upset, Head coach Mike Ibach says the Broncs were playing well coming into the tournament but never got anything to go their way in Casper.

And he says in Friday's game the Braves were just more motivated than the Broncs. The Broncs end their season with a record of 19-8.

WYOMING COWGIRLS BASKETBALL - The Wyoming Cowgirls look like a WNIT team this year. after losing in the first round of the MWC tournament last week the University is expecting the Cowgirls not to make the womens NCAA tournament but get a bid into the WNIT.

The womens NCAA field will be announced today and the WNIT field will be announced late tonight.

WNIT play is scheduled to begin Wednesday and Thursday with first round games at college sites all over the country. It is expected if the Cowgirls get a WNIT bid they will have a good chance to host games as long as they stay alive in the tournament.

SPRING SPORTS - The spring sports season opens this week. it is spring break at Sheridan high school but practice for track and field and soccer will continue.

The track season is scheduled to open Saturday for Sheridan high school as Natrona county hosts their annual Earlybird invitational.

The Lady Bronc soccer team will open the season Friday with a game at Riverton and the Broncs will be involved in a road jamboree with Worland and Riverton.

The Lady Broncs play their first three games on the road and will play their first game at home on March 31st.

The broncs will play their first varsity home match on the 25th against Cody. The bronc JV's will host a game with Natrona county next Tuesday.

AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL - Sheridan American Legion baseball will hold their pre-season player /parent meeting on Wednesday March 23rd in the cafeteria at Sheridan high school. The meeting will take place at 7 pm. All prospective Sheridan Troopers and Jets players and their parents are asked to attend.
