LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Wyoming junior punter Austin McCoy has been selected as the Mountain West Conference co-special teams player of the week.
McCoy not only helped Wyoming control field position in a 20-15road win over the Toledo last Saturday, but he completed a 34-yard pass on a trick play to keep a scoring drive alive for the Cowboys.
McCoy punted eight times, placing two of his punts inside the
Toledo 10-yard line. Toledo had no yards on punt returns.
He is No. 16 in the nation and No. 2 in the conference in
punting average with 44.8 yards per punt.
McCoy shares this week's conference special teams player of the week honor with linebacker Jamil Cooks of Air Force.
