BIG HORN LADY RAMS BASKETBALL - The Big Horn Lady Rams have won the last two 2A State Basketball titles and are looking to make a run at three in a row in March.
A change this season is the head coach, as long-time assistant Wayne Hall takes over for Mike Daley, who took the Lady Rams from runners-up in 2007 to Title winners in 2008 and 2009. So far this season, they won nine in a row, and Hall says they had a good break and got a lot done over the last two weeks.
Hall also says the transition from him taking over as the new coach has been smooth, with the players taking the lead.
The Lady Rams Senior class has won a lot of games over the last three and a half seasons; that success has given them lots of confidence during the early part of this season.
Hall says they might be a favorite to win it all again in March, but they are trying not to look too far ahead.
The Lady Rams will play at home with the Rams Friday against Wright, and then head out on the road at Moorcroft Saturday.
One of the Lady Rams' main challengers this season will be head coach Diane Moser and the Tongue River Lady Eagles. They are the last team to beat the Big Horn Lady Rams for a State title -- that was back in 2007. The Lady Eagles had won three state titles in a row from '05, '06 and '07, with the Lady Rams beating them for the Championship in 2007 and then coming back to win it all again in 2008 and 2009.
The Lady Eagles are 7-1 and will play road games at Moorcroft and Lovell this week. The Eagles will join them in Moorcroft Friday, and then play Lovell at home Saturday.
