UW FOOTBALL - The Wyoming football Cowboys finished off their season with a big win in the New Mexico Bowl Saturday.

Head coach Dave Christensen took over the Cowboy program in December of 2008 and had full control of the team after leaving the University of Missouri after their bowl game last season. Christensen was the offensive coordinator for the Tigers.

He was introduced as the head coach at UW last January, and said what all new coaches have to say about turning around the program they are coming to; Christensen got those things done in his first season.

The Cowboys were picked to finish last in the league this year; they finished 5th and had a 5-6 record heading into the regular season finale against CSU. They beat the Rams, got the record to 6-6 and got the invitation to the New Mexico Bowl. Christensen talks about how the Cowboys grew as a team during the season.

Wyoming fans were asked to purchase 4,000 tickets for the bowl game and came through, surpassing the 4,000 mark. It was something Christensen says the team really appreciated. And he says what a memorable first season as a head coach with the Cowboys.
