TROOPERS SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE / LOOKING AHEAD TO THE FALL SPORTS SEASON

The Sheridan Troopers made a pretty good run at the state "AA" American Legion baseball tournament as they made the final three. The Troops were knocked out of the tournament by Cheyenne Post 6 on Saturday.

Post 6 and Casper played their championship game yesterday with Post 6 coming out on top 4-3. That's 12 state tiles for Post 6 out of the last 13 and the last five in a row. Gillette is the only other team during that time to win the Wyoming state title.

Post 6 now moves onto the Northwest Regional tournament in Eugene, Oregon they will play the Montana state champion Billings Royals in the first round.

The Colorado Rockies lost at Pittsburgh Sunday as the Bucs took the game 5-1. The Rockies are off today and will open a series at the New York Mets tomorrow night. We will have the game live for you on 87.7 FM ESPN radio. Rockies on deck will start at 4:30 with the first pitch at 5:10.

All local fall sports athletes from 5th and 6th little guy football through high school must have sports physicals completed before they will be allowed to practice that is for all local junior high and high school athletes getting ready to compete in fall sports.

The first football camp to open will be the Sheridan Broncs a week from today. This weekend bronc coaches and team leaders will head up to the big horn mountains for their annual mountain retreat.

They come down Sunday and will host the bronc player and parent meeting at the high school.
practice for the broncs opens next Monday morning at 7:00. The Broncs open the 2013 season at Laramie August 30th.
